Okay, I really like the show iZombie, but there ARE a few issues with it…
-Some stories aren’t really explained or followed up on. Like, in the episode where Liv eats Scott E’s brain, she tells Major everything about zombies and he’s seemingly okay with it. But then, he gives her the foodstuffs with Alan York’s brain in them for safekeeping, which made me realize her previous interaction with him was a delusion. But they never explicitly say that! Or how Peyton finds out and then just completely disappears. Which brings me to my next point…
-There is a significant lack of expansion on the many opportunities for exploring emotions. Lowell is murdered in front of Liv’s eyes and they only talk about it for one episode, really. He’s mentioned later in the show, but in a way that shows how Liv is more focused on solving the case rather than dealing with his death. I mean, they were very close and he was in love with her. I know she wasn’t over Major, but she could NOT have gotten over Lowell that easily, especially since she saw him die. That’s pretty traumatic. And then her best friend since a very long time leaves her. I know Liv might understand and accept Peyton’s reaction, but if my best friend left, i would be pretty sad for a long time.
-There is rarely any side-character expansion. It’s always completely focused on Liv, and while I kinda like her, I’m hungry to know more of Ravi’s and Clive’s and definitely Blaine’s pasts. Now, I haven’t read the comic or anything, but even if those pasts aren’t written into to the paper version of the show, I think both sets of writers need to seriously consider the quality of their work and try to add stuff like that in.
